More than 1,000 local people came along to this month's Thamesmead Market to celebrate the very best the town has to offer.
As well as being a celebration of Thamesmead’s community and diversity, the market brought together local crafts, produce, amazing takeaway food and art by Bow Art artists to local residents.
Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE, Leader of London Borough of Bexley Council and John Lewis, Peabody’s Executive Director for Thamesmead joined residents to enjoy the day in one of the town’s many open green spaces.
Teresa O’Neill said: “It’s great to see the market in Thamesmead…It is so important during this time to make sure we use our local businesses – while making sure we all stay safe. It’s been a difficult year but I wish the traders the best as they return to almost business as usual.”
The Thamesmead Markets have being delivered in partnership with the Thamesmead Festival Production Group – made up of 11 residents, CC Events and producers Serious.
The final market of the year will take place on at Southmere Lake, next to the Lakeside Centre, on 11 October from 12-4pm and promises more local DJs from RTM, even more traders and a showcase of local artists at the Lakeside Centre.
