Join the Thamesmead Community Fund Panel and help us support local groups and creatives!

Apply to become part of the Thamesmead Community Fund panel for 2024-25.

What is the Thamesmead Community Fund?

The Thamesmead Community Fund (TMCF) supports local community and creative projects with grants from £200 to £3,000. The aim of the fund is to give groups and individuals the chance to deliver projects that benefit the Thamesmead community. The TMCF is funded by Peabody and administered by the London Community Fund.

The money for the fund comes from income generated by location filming in Thamesmead as well as a contribution from the Peabody Community Foundation.

This year, for the first time, the Making Space for Nature Fund will form part of the TMCF – providing funding to individuals and groups who want to transform Thamesmead’s green spaces and help people engage with nature.

The Connecting Thamesmead programme, which aims to bring people together to improve health and wellbeing, is also joining the fund.

Decisions on the applications are made by a panel of Thamesmead residents. To ensure that more local people have the chance to be part of the TMCF decision-making panel, we are inviting Thamesmead residents to apply for a position for 2024/2025.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly keen to hear from residents who haven’t been engaged with Peabody in this way before. We are looking for a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, age groups, career paths and areas in Thamesmead. You must be 18+ and be:

  • local to Thamesmead and have a keen interest in what is happening in your community

  • reliable, have an open mind and want to help make a difference locally

  • available to meet online a couple of times a year. Meetings will be held on weekdays (Monday - Thursday) after 6pm.

Please note that active panel members cannot apply for funding from the TMCF, either as an individual or as part of a group.

What you will be required to do:

In 2024/2025 you will be part of two funding rounds in summer and winter (dates tbc). The panel will be expected to attend a panel meeting and Q&A once per round, as well as making time to read all applications made to the fund in advance of the panel meetings.

We will provide a training workshop prior to the first round of applications, making sure you are fully briefed and have all the tools you need to fulfil your role. We will also be able to provide you with a laptop (if required), which you will be able to borrow for the duration of each round.

You must be available for the training on Wednesday 22 May 2024 at 6pm and the first panel meeting on Wednesday 19 June 2024 at 6pm.

Members of the TMCF panel will be reimbursed for their time at a rate of £92 per day.
