Eight volunteers joined Thames 21 and London Wildlife Trust on the 13 July for a day of creating floating reed beds in the Thamesmead canals. The team installed 75 sqm of reed beds, please see the before and after photos below.
Desiree Shepherd, Public Realm and Landscape Manager at Peabody said: "It's important that we preserve these habitats which enhance the local environment, provide homes for a variety of wildlife and help to make the canals more attractive. I'd like to thank Thames 21, London Wildlife Trust and volunteers who gave up their time and for all their hard work."
If you'd like to get involved come along on the 27 or 28 July from 10am - 4pm for our next 'Greening the Thamesmead canals' with Thames 21 and Wildlife London. Please contact [email protected] for more details and to book.
