Our Southmere development has won the 2021 Evening Standard New Homes Award for Best Regeneration project! The first phase of the brand new development comprises 130 new build properties and, having recently been completed, has now seen some of its first residents move into their new homes.

The Evening Standard describes Southmere as "Clusters of handsome, mellow brick blocks grouped around raised shared courtyards, creating smaller communities within the larger whole. And where once were towers, there will now be a sequence of streets and lakeside squares, one with a water clock tower as a focal point, and an arcade of shops."

Along with the 130 new homes, Southmere also boasts a new public square – Cygnet Square – which will have a library, retail shops, restaurants, cafes and community amenities for residents on their doorstep. Cygnet Square will become a place where the community meets, with regular events and activities planned from July this year. Thamesmead’s first creative studio will also produce a permanent artwork for the square to be enjoyed by all!
