What is the Thamesmead Community Fund?

The Thamesmead Community Fund (TMCF) was launched in 2018 (as the 50th Fund), to support local community and creative projects with microgrants from £200 to £2,000. The aim of the fund is to give groups and individuals the chance to run projects that benefit the people of Thamesmead. The TMCF is run by Peabody, the London Community Foundation, and an advisory group of local residents and stakeholders. The money for the fund comes from the fees that Peabody earns through location filming in Thamesmead, and from the Peabody Community Foundation.

Since 2018 we have supported over 70 local groups and individuals with over £130,000.

To make sure that more local people have the chance to have a say, as well as to keep the funding panel relevant, we are inviting Thamesmead residents to apply for a position on the TMCP panel.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly keen to hear from residents who haven’t been engaged with Peabody in this way before so that we hear from a range of people:

  • that are local to Thamesmead and have a keen interest in what is happening in their community. We are looking for a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, age groups, career paths and areas in Thamesmead. You must be 18+.
  • that are reliable, have an open mind and are interested in what is happening locally on their doorstep.
  • that are available to meet online a couple of times a year. Meetings will be held on weekdays (Monday to Friday) after 6pm.

What will you be required to do?

In 2022/2023 we will be running three funding rounds in July, October and February. The panel will be expected to meet once per funding round, so three times in a financial year (1 April to 31 March), as well as make time to read all applications made to the fund before panel meetings.

We will provide a training workshop prior to the first round of applications, making sure you are fully briefed and have all the tools you need to fulfil your role. We will also be able to provide you with a laptop, which you will be able to borrow for the duration of each round.

Members of the TMCF panel will be reimbursed for their time at a day rate of £80 per day.

How to apply:

Send us an email letting us know why you would like to join the TMCF panel and confirming that you will be available to attend the meetings on Tuesday 5 July 2022 (Q&A), Monday 15 August 2022 (panel scoring) and a training session week commencing 11 July 2022. Please also include the area of TM you live in, as well as your age and your current occupation.

Send your email to [email protected] with TMCF panel in the subject line.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 26 June 22 at 5pm.
