18:00PM-21:00PM
The Nest, Cygnet Square, SE2 9FA
Thamesmead African Film Club presents a free screening of La Nuit des Rois, a powerful film shaped by West African griot tradition.
Thamesmead African Film Club is a community film series funded by a £3,000 grant from the Thamesmead Community Fund. It is dedicated to showcasing African and diaspora cinema, creating space for local people to gather to watch, reflect and discuss films that explore culture, history and identity.
Its first screening is La Nuit des Rois, written and directed by Philippe Lacôte. Rooted in the tradition of West African griot storytelling and oral tradition, the film reflects a cultural practice in which history, myth, performance, and collective memory are preserved through spoken word, performance, and communal participation.
The screening will be in French and Dyula with English subtitles, and will be followed by a post-film discussion.
