Thamesmead murals - 2021 project

2021 saw the unveiling of 12 brand new murals after local artists won a competition to create their very own public art pieces.

The murals were completed by print designer Paige Denham, illustrator Keith Hau, artist Cieron Peel, and street art legend Astek – all hailing from Thamesmead. They worked alongside internationally established artists, Louis Masai, Jo Peel, Curtis Hylton, Irony and Hixxy. The murals depict the area’s native wildlife and are located along four underpasses that connect Thamesmead’s canals.

These artworks were hailed by online art magazine Widewalls as being some of the world's most beautiful street art created that year.
