Thamesmead festival is a contemporary performing arts festival that takes place over two months. As well as music, the festival boasts a line up including: theatre performances; markets; art installations and sporting events. You can also enjoy a wide selection of street food celebrating Thamesmead’s heritage all supplied by local vendors.
This year the festival will take place at various locations across Thamesmead – Birchmere and Southmere Park, The Moorings and the Town Centre during June, July and August. Highlights include: Exbury Egg by artist Stephen Turner, Luminary by Heinrich and Palmer and: Les Voyages, Compagnie XY.
On June 14 to 16 GLOBAL FUSION will perform Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ with their own twist at Birchmere Park. This free event is for all ages on 14 June at 6pm, on 15 June at 5pm and on 16 June at 3pm.
From 15 to 16 June, The Collective will hold their free ‘A Makers Market’ from 12pm until 5pm at The Exchange Erith, The Old Library, DA8 1RS. Over two days you can get your creative juices going by attending workshops on wooden toy making, screen printing and Calligraphy. You’ll also have the chance to immerse yourself in affordable artwork, house plants & succulents, handmade ceramics, cool homewares, fashion, artisan food & organic beauty products - all on one weekend!

From 12pm until 4pm, our third Southmere Sunday at Southmere Square will take place. At this event you can enjoy food, kid’s activities and local arts and crafts. For more information, click here or email [email protected].
Tump 53 Nature Reserve is a green space in The Moorings (SE28 8AS), will hold a free open day on 22 June. The event will connect children, young people and the wider community with nature and the environment.
If you’re looking to up your fitness or even just enjoy a gentle cycle around Thamesmead, why not join us for our cycle event – ‘Tour de Thamesmead. On June 29, from 10am until 2pm, people of mixed cycling abilities can join our event for just £5. Starting at Crossway Park, the tour will cover 8.3 miles and take you through some lovely landmarks in Thamesmead including Lessnes Abbey, Southmere and Birchmere Park.
On 30 June: Les Voyages, Compagnie XY, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival will take place at The Moorings Estate, Thamesmead, SE28 8BG. Time: (TBC)
The free event will see celebrated circus company, Compagnie XY, do something extraordinary this summer. The French acrobats will be popping up in surprising places in the area, listening to the stories of people who live there and sharing their unique and inclusive approach to acrobatics in ways which will both surprise and amaze.
Everyone is welcome to join the UK premier of this celebration that will bring together acrobats and audiences alike to reveal all that is best about The Moorings.

July 2, 4 and 9 will see us host the Thamesmead Festival at Home at Lakeview Court, Central Way,
SE28 8GL. This year we will celebrate Thamesmead with a series of fun and creative activities.
This free event is brought to you by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in partnership with Peabody. Over three days Trinity Laban’s inspirational leaders and students will perform three musical events, including a Showtune Singalong and a live performance by students.

On July 5, you can enjoy an afternoon performance in Thamesmead Town Centre, Joyce Dawson Way, SE28 8RA by Invisible Dance, Protein Dance.
This colourful street performance, full of action filled movement and razor-sharp choreography by professional dancers and musicians will appear from nowhere. They will turn the town centre into a performance playground by animating Joyce Dawson Way like you have never seen before.
With plenty of dance, drama and live music, (In)visible Dancing celebrates the heart of the town centre.
