Take a bike with Thamesmead's new free cycle hire service.
Local people aged 14 and over can borrow a bicycle for a month to try more sustainable travel choices at absolutely no cost.
“We want all residents to have an opportunity to experience the benefits of pedal power for free,” said Khadeja Chowdhury, Peabody's Health and Wellbeing Projects Officer in Thamesmead. “Cycling boosts wellbeing, eases traffic congestion and helps to create a healthier future for everyone.”
“Whether they’re commuting or riding for pleasure, we want everyone to sign up to borrow a bike and give cycling a go. Not owning a bike isn’t an excuse anymore,” joked Khadeja.
