The Lounge: Grand Opening Event

A new safe, inclusive and inspiring venue for 14 to 25-year-olds is celebrating its grand opening with a drop-in session that is open to everyone.

The Lounge, in Nest Way, Cygnet Square, is a space for young people in Thamesmead to meet, express themselves and build skills.

The opening night is Wednesday 14 January from 4.30pm to 8.30pm. There will be food, games and fun available, with performances, activities and a chance to explore this new space.

Local young people have been working hard behind the scenes to co-design The Lounge and get the space ready for opening.

Spirit-Gigi Lansiquot, one of the young people involved, explained: "We want to create a youth space that feels like a second home. We want young people to come along to have fun but also learn and be educated."

The new youth hub is part of a six-month pilot project, which will see experienced youth workers lead creative workshops, skills-building activities and community events with young people.
