Warm hubs a hotspot for free community activities

Thamesmead residents can enjoy free arts and crafts sessions, exercise classes and coffee mornings in a comfortable and cosy community space this winter.

The newly launched weekly activities programme at The Moorings Sociable Club is part of Peabody’s Warm Hubs programme, set up for local people over the colder months.

The Moorings Sociable Club, in Arnott Close, already provides a warm and welcoming place to meet friends and neighbours, chat with other members of the community, and use the free WiFi and charging points.

The venue is open from 9am to 5pm every weekday. With the new programme of activities now running, there are plenty of extra reasons to visit.

Khadeja Chowdhury, Peabody’s Health and Wellbeing Projects Officer, said: “The Warm Hubs initiative is a great way for people to get together, have a chat and take part in some fun activities.

“At a time of year when we all end up using more heating and electricity when we’re at home, it’s an opportunity to spend time in a nice warm space and maybe try something a bit different.”
