Socialising, sport and support at SEND family fun day

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families came together for a day of fun and support at the Moorings Sociable Club.

The event combined games and sport activities with opportunities to access guidance and support.

Attendees took part in football, yoga and face painting. Throughout the fun day, there were information stalls to encourage families to access support and resources available from the Royal Borough of Greenwich SEND Team and other community organisations.

Families exchanged advice and shared experiences over a free meal provided by Peabody.

Uduak Jesuthasan, Peabody’s Children, Families and Young People’s Lead for Thamesmead, said: “The SEND family fun day brought together families who find themselves in very similar circumstances for a day of fun, laughter and empowerment.

“It was a great opportunity for families to chat to each other, learn about the resources available, and enjoy a day of community and connection.”
