Light the Way returns to Thamesmead on Saturday 4 March. A series of stunning light installations that illuminate the beauty of Thamesmead’s landscapes and highlight the importance of local biodiversity will be showcased on the night. The team at Artist Hive Studios, who are partnering with Peabody to organise the event have a number of paid and voluntary roles open to Thamesmead residents.
Paid roles
Festival steward - paid
London living wage: £11.95 per hour
Working hours: 3pm to 11pm
There are four paid stewardship roles available. Successful applicants will assist the Hive Curates team on the festival day (Saturday 4 March) in making sure the festival runs smoothly. Stewards will not work alone at any point and will either be partnered with a festival volunteer or paired with a security officer.
All stewards will be required to join an online briefing session before the event to get an overview of the festival, the installations, have a safety briefing and learn about the general requirements of the role.
Key responsibilities on the day will include:
- Working alongside the festival volunteers, the Hive Curates team and security
- Giving attendees general information about the event
- Handing out maps and signposting visitors
- Supporting visitors with accessibility requirements
- Providing support and assistance to visitors as required
- Supporting the event stewards with queue management to ensure access into different areas is smooth
- Alerting the security and Hive Curates teams to any potential safety issues
- Being an ambassador for the event and helping the team to create an enjoyable experience for visitors
Voluntary roles
Event volunteers
Working hours: a minimum of four hours
A number of volunteer roles available which will volunteers allow you to spend time in each of the festival locations during the event. These roles are suitable for work experience for over 18s interested in the events industry.
We ask that volunteers work a minimum of four hours on the festival day – Saturday 4 March. The event runs from 5pm to 10pm, and the Hive Curates team can work with you to find a time slot that suits you.
