Pathways to the Thames
In 2022, Peabody partnered with Sustrans and worked with local communities to design a path from Southmere Lake, through the former golf course to the Thames. The project was funded by Peabody and the Greater London Authority.
We welcomed people to community conversations and design workshops over five months. Together we came up with a plan for a path that makes it easier to walk, wheel and cycle. We also looked at how the route would increase different types of plants and wildlife in the area.
The Community Working Group worked with Sustrans and Peabody until January 2023 to develop a design for a safe, attractive and wildlife-friendly pathway.
