‘5 x 5 sq ft’ is a natural gardening and soil ecology project created by local artist Miyuki Kasahara which looks at the politics and practicalities of soil and natural gardening, in connection to our health through growing experiments, soil examinations and wild-cam recordings.

Taking inspiration from Masanobu Fukuoka, a pioneer of natural farming in Japan, this project is centred around a 5 x 5 square feet vegetable patch at an allotment. 5 x 5 sq ft began as an artist residency run by the art organisation, Thamesmead Texas.
