Take part in group DIY projects – and build friendships at the same time.
Thamesmead Shed is a new community group helping to bring people together to tackle loneliness. The group hosts free, informal get-togethers where people can work together on DIY activities.
“The goal of Thamesmead Shed is to help men and women combat loneliness, boost mental health, and foster a sense of purpose and camaraderie,” said organiser John Hogan. “Sometimes it’s hard to talk face-to-face, but when you’re shoulder-to-shoulder working on a task, like woodworking for example, it can be easier to open up.”
Thamesmead Shed meets every Friday during term time.
