West Thamesmead Gateway will be a place for everyone – a new quarter of Plumstead where people will want to live and work.

Our proposals will transform the unused land, moments from Plumstead station and deliver:

  • a variety of industrial and employment uses, providing a variety of workspace and creating jobs for local people
  • market sale and affordable homes, in a range of sizes and tenures
  • imaginative new parkland and tranquil open spaces
  • a network of walking and cycling routes to connect Plumstead, Woolwich and Thamesmead with new pathways and places to meet.

We are currently exploring options to regenerate the site and will discuss these ideas with the local community as part of a full public consultation.

Despite the proximity to Plumstead station, the site is currently isolated in an area dominated by busy road traffic. Our plans will change this - improving the environment for pedestrians and cyclists and improving connections between Plumstead, West Thamesmead and the River Thames.

The new homes will be a short walk from Docklands Light Railway and Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) services at Woolwich. Buses run to Thamesmead Town Centre, Lewisham, Crystal Palace, North Greenwich and Bluewater.

This new development is part of the West Thamesmead, Plumstead and Abbey Wood Housing Zone, one of two Housing Zones being delivered in Thamesmead by Peabody with £47.5m investment from the Greater London Authority. The Housing Zones are led by the London Borough of Bexley and Royal Borough of Greenwich.
