Are you creative? We are looking for volunteers who could lead in painting, drawing card making, jewellery, knitting or any other craft or creative skill that you would like to share with older people, some of whom have learning difficulties and dementia. The purpose of the group is to encourage participation and creativity. Creative skills are important to this role. Patience, listening skills and ability to encourage others are also important. Confidence and willingness to help design activities and/or coordinate a programme would be really useful. We are looking for someone who can ideally volunteer for 1 day a week between 1 – 2 hours for a minimum for 3 months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit both the volunteer and the project. Volunteers to also be: o Enthusiastic o Punctual and reliable o An awareness of the difficulties faced by those who are socially isolated and vulnerable and/ or have special needs o Good organisational skills o Adaptable o Good listening skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people o Ability to be objective and work within professional boundaries A wide range of training opportunities available!
