TRANSFER SPECIALIST – TENANT & FAMILY SUPPORT

  • We are looking for someone who can ideally volunteer for 1 day a week between 1 – 2 hours for a minimum for 3 months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit both the volunteer and the project.

  • TRANSFER SPECIALIST – TENANT & FAMILY SUPPORT

Our Tenant and Family Support Team (TFST) offers support and advice to tenants and families at risk of losing their tenancy — or who need some extra support to manage that tenancy successfully. The team works in conjunction with other agencies and support is tailored to individual or family circumstances. We are looking for volunteers to: o Support residents to maximise their chances in securing a transfer externally o Engage with residents with low to medium support needs o Effectively communicate the process to residents, whilst empowering them to take necessary actions where appropriate o Manage multiple cases simultaneously o Liaise with and update relevant Peabody staff o Generally befriend and offer emotional support to clients who might be facing one or more of the following issues: mental health problems; difficulties with family responsibilities; isolation due to age, disability, ill-health, language or literacy barriers o Listen to and empathise with clients’ concerns o Accompany clients on visits and appointments within the community o Assist with form-filling, letter-writing and reading correspondence o Assist with basic budgeting o Arrange and/or accompany clients on recreational activities o Provide language support for clients whose first language is not English Skills/Experience o Good level of basic computer skills and confidence in using Word, Excel and databases o Ability and willingness to provide emotional support and / or practical help to clients o Ability to cope well in one-to-one situations o Good listening skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people o Ability to be objective and work within professional boundaries o An awareness of the difficulties faced by those who are socially isolated and vulnerable and/ or have special needs o Ability to be understanding, sensitive and show empathy o Punctual and reliable Volunteers will undergo various training opportunities to support this role.
