This is an introductory teaching qualification that replaces what used to be known as Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). It is suitable for trainers in the private sector or those looking at Further Education colleges and the post 16 sector.The course is designed for those who are not currently in a teaching, training or support role but would like to enter the profession as well as those who might already be delivering some training and would like to obtain a nationally recognised qualification. The course attracts applicants from a variety sectors including the hair and beauty industry, NHS, built environment, local government trainers and others. This makes for a varied classroom that is really interesting as you hear how fellow students apply the same core techniques to their various sectors and makes for interesting diverse micro teaches.

This course is for you if you want to improve your English reading and writing skills, either for work or further study. We offer courses at all levels in a friendly, supportive environment so that you can develop the skills you need. All evening courses are once a week. Most daytime courses are also once a week but in some cases the course runs over two afternoons to fit in with school finishing times.

We offer you a wide range of Adult ESOL courses that are ideal for you if English is not your first language. The course will enable you to improve your skills and become more confident in all forms of vocal and written communications. You will also study maths and employability skills.

The range of units encourages a holistic view of child development and work experience to help develop the practical skills required for working with children. To work in the early years setting you need to be caring, responsible, good with children, patient, calm, efficient, energetic and creative.

If you already hold a Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies or a related subject such as Foundation Degree Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, then this programme offers you the opportunity to top-up to a full honours degree. It will also be suitable for you if you have an interest in working with learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), either in a mainstream setting or in a special school or college.
