If there are issues in your life which are affecting your health and well-being, Positive Steps Thamesmead can help.
If you are facing eviction, need advice on housing, can’t afford to feed your children or are having difficulty managing your money or debt, Positive Steps is here for you. We can also help you if you’re looking for work, need advice on benefits or want to get fit and active.
Positive Steps does this do this by referring you to different services who can help.
Getting referred to Positive Steps is easy
If you need help you can speak to one of the Positive Steps Thamesmead volunteers.
They’ll ask if you’re happy to discuss your personal circumstances in private. This involves going through a simple questionnaire, which flags a range of issues that you might be struggling with, including your health and well-being. With your agreement, you’ll then be referred to one or more advice agencies. Positive Steps sets up an appointment for you which generally takes about two weeks.
Citizens Advice Bureau, Fair Money Advice, Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Networks and local food banks are among the many agencies or partners that you could be referred to.
Many of the people who have been helped by Positive Steps have said they don’t know what they’d have done without meeting one of the Positive Steps Advisors. From saving lives and easing money worries, to giving people the confidence and direction to get back into the workplace, the programme has been crucial in linking local residents to the services they need.an important tool in making Thamesmead a better place to live.
