We’re calling on young people in Thamesmead to create their own community projects through our Young Leaders programme and we're backing each successful idea with up to £500. Is that something that you’d like to get involved in?
This programme is linked to Young Ambassadors for young people in Thamesmead. Our team of ambassadors will invite eight Young Leaders to create their own projects in a variety of areas such as creative and performing arts, sports, physical and mental wellbeing, local issues or enterprise.
You’ll have the chance to receive up to £500 to make your idea a reality.
As a Young Leader, you’ll be able to create and manage your own idea to help other people and your area. We’ll then work with you to turn those ideas into action and give your local community something to feel proud of and benefit from.
Why become a Young Leader?
Becoming a Young Leader and working with people in your community also offers chances to gain a Level 1 accreditation and work experience opportunities with Peabody and our partners. What's more, it can also be a stepping-stone to becoming a Young Ambassador the following year, which has many advantages.
Most of all, the Young Leaders programme is about giving you the knowledge and confidence to bring your ideas into your community. Previous projects include the creation of youth spaces from disused estate offices, martial arts events, films & magazines and family fun days. Whatever you choose, we’ll make sure that the best projects are financed and backed by our ambassadors with support from the Thamesmead Youth Team.
If you look in the mirror and see yourself as a Young Leader, please apply today.
