Unfortunately we are having to postpone the 2020 Thamesmead Festival to 2021 due to Covid-19 and in consultation with our partners. The festival planned for 18 July 2020 will no longer go ahead.
We are committed to bringing the festival back in 2021 as it celebrates local talent and represents the best of Thamesmead, but we haven’t set a new date yet. The event is produced by the Thamesmead Festival Production Group which is made up of 11 dedicated residents who work collaboratively with Peabody’s Thamesmead cultural team as well as Serious, who also produce events like the EFG London Jazz Festival. All key decisions are made by the resident group to make sure this is a festival for everyone.
Julia Hien, a resident on the Thamesmead Festival Production Group said: "While it is unfortunate that the festival can no longer go ahead this year, it has encouraged our entire team to continue to work closely with Peabody and Serious. As local residents of Thamesmead, we want to ensure that the community spirit is very much alive from the planning stages to the official event day!"
