Residents have voted in favour of plans to regenerate Lesnes Estate and create new, high-quality and energy efficient homes.
We held a residents’ ballot from Friday 21 February to Monday 16 March 2020 to make sure that the community supported our plans in include Lesnes Estate in our regeneration for South Thamesmead.
The result saw residents support our plans to redevelop Lesnes Estate. 65.4% of residents took part in the ballot and 70.2% voted ‘yes’.
Matthew Foulis, Project Director in Thamesmead for Peabody said: It’s fantastic that residents have voted in support of our regeneration proposals. We’ve been speaking with residents since 2016 and they’ve told us that they want to keep the community together – and that’s important for us too.

“We’ll be taking a phased approach to the regeneration so residents will only need to move once and the community can stay together and grow.”
