OPEN CALL: Commission of new artwork for the Cage basketball grounds

We are delighted to announce an OPEN CALL for a commission of new artwork for the basketball grounds in Thamesmead.

The Cage is an iconic place in South Thamesmead. Over the past twenty years it accumulated layers of artwork, from colourful children’s hand stencils and many renditions of the ‘Temo’ logo, to commemorative graffiti. The Cage became a shrine for the local community, a filming hub for dancers and musicians, and a favourite for photographers.

muf architecture/art is currently designing the refurbishments for the Cage which will include new flooring, equipment, lighting and seating.

The new artwork on the floor of the Cage will become a significant part of this plan and we're inviting professional artists, creatives and those with great ideas to submit designs for it.

Deadline: Wednesday 29 December 2021

This project is commissioned by Peabody and produced by seven local residents.
