Every Christmas the appeal provides hundreds of local people and families with toys, food hampers and other essentials. We're seeking support from local businesses to contribute in any way they can.
David Bussey, Peabody’s Economic Inclusion Officer in Thamesmead, said: “We appreciate businesses have had a tough year too, but they have always responded so generously to the appeal. Any contribution will provide some much-needed Christmas joy to those who really need it most.
“Coronavirus brought with it many new challenges for those already facing a daily struggle to keep their head above water. During the course of the pandemic, we have seen the level of need from those living in our communities increase tenfold.”
The appeal needs toys, food such as cereal, soup, pasta, rice, lentils, beans and pulse, tinned goods, tea/coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, UHT milk, fruit juice and non-perishable items for hampers and vital household necessities such as washing up liquid, washing powder, cleaning products and nappies.
Alternatively, businesses and individuals can make a financial donation to the Peabody Community Foundation to support the activities of the Peabody Thamesmead Christmas Appeal.
