Join the Thamesmead Connectors to shape a healthier community

Connecting Thamesmead is a programme which aims to bring people together to improve mental health and well-being. It is funded jointly by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Bexley Councils and hosted by Peabody.

The Thamesmead Connectors are a group of residents who help shape the programme and support with various tasks throughout their time.

The Thamesmead Connectors will be involved with a range of tasks during the programme, which may include activities such as:

• Helping staff on the Connecting Thamesmead stall at the Thamesmead Festival
• Visiting projects funded by the small grants programme
• Reviewing and inputting into the content of the Talk of Thamesmead Newsletter
• Supporting with the design and delivery of a pop-up cafe

You do not need any specific skills, experience or qualifications to be part of this group, but it would be helpful if you had the following qualities:

• Interest in learning about the Connecting Thamesmead programme
• Ability to get on with a range of people
• Ability to communicate your ideas
• An understanding of the current services and activities available locally
• Living in the Thamesmead area and a passion to make the area better for everyone.

There is no set pattern for this opportunity and the Thamesmead Connectors will meet at different times to work on different tasks throughout the programme. There is an expectation, however, that people will be able to commit to the programme for at least a year.

There will be an initial briefing session on the evening of Tuesday 1 July and you should be available to attend on this date. There will be opportunities to get involved in further sessions throughout the programme.  

Participants will be reimbursed for their time spent training and time spent on specific project tasks. Reimbursement will be at the same rate as the London Living wage.
