Young people in Thamesmead invited to town’s first apprenticeship showcase

Young people aged 14–25 in Thamesmead are invited to take a step towards their future at the new Thamesmead Apprenticeship Showcase.

This free drop-in event is taking place on Wednesday 18 February 2026 between 1pm and 4pm at The Nest, in Cygnet Square, South Thamesmead. It is open to anyone curious to explore apprenticeships and hands-on career opportunities.

Local employers from sectors including construction, housing and engineering will be on hand to talk with attendees about pathways into apprenticeships, trade careers and training.

Young people can get practical support with CV writing, interview skills and employability tips, and attend short sessions explaining how apprenticeships work. They can even get a free LinkedIn headshot to help promote themselves to future employers.

Sign up for Thamesmead Apprenticeship Showcase tickets.

The special showcase is organised by Peabody, who are leading the long-term regeneration of the town. Creating new and exciting opportunities for local people is a key part of Peabody's Plan for Thamesmead.

“Apprenticeships offer a brilliant way to earn while you learn, gain new skills and industry experience,” said Christof Christou, Peabody’s Economic Inclusion Manager. “We want to show young people the kinds of opportunities out there, and to help them feel supported and confident as they take their first steps into the world of work.

"Our showcase will have a variety of employers and training partners who are ready to listen and guide all those who come along.”

Food will be available on the day and attendees are welcome to come at any point between 1pm and 4pm. Peabody recommends participants arrive early to make the most of everything on offer.
