Free, festive fun at the Winter Family Disco

Families are invited to join their neighbours for festive fun at a free Winter Family Disco at the Moorings Sociable Club in Thamesmead.

Visitors can expect to hear their favourite festive tunes, with opportunities to show off their moves on the dance floor or belt out seasonal hits on karaoke during the disco on Saturday 20 December.

Tony, from Play it on Pan, will be providing a soundtrack of funky tunes and festive beats on the steel drum. Meanwhile, the Thamesmead Tornadoes will lead high-energy line dancing and hula-hooping sessions to give families a warming winter workout.

There will also be free food and drink served for everyone, a range of festive games to play, as well as a chance to pick up gifts at the winter market.

The event is being hosted by Camouflage Cafe and sponsored by Peabody.

“This is a great opportunity to come along, meet other families and enjoy some festive fun in a safe environment,” said Kemi Madumere, co-founder of Camouflage Cafe. “We’re looking forward to welcoming the community on 20 December.”

Jaudat Alogba, Peabody’s Children and Families Project Officer in Thamesmead, explained she wanted to organise an event that would add seasonal cheer for the community without adding extra costs.

“This is a magical time of year, but it can also be very expensive for many households,” said Jaudat. “The Winter Family Disco is a wonderful chance for residents to gather, share in the festive spirit and not have to worry about any extra spending.”

The Winter Family Disco takes place between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday 20 December. Book free tickets to reserve spots for your family.
