A local dentist has opened a new surgery and nail salon after fighting tooth and nail to keep his practice afloat.
Kaveh Shirazi, of Abbey Wood Dental Practice, says limited space for expansion and rising costs had put his business at severe risk.
But moving to Cygnet Square has enabled Kaveh to take on more patients and create five new jobs. A further 10 jobs are expected to be created in the next two years. Kaveh’s wife Gazaleh Khoshkhoui also runs her new nail salon, Boutique Nails, from the premises.
“With more space, more dentists and a beautiful new practice, we’re able to see more patients,” explained Kaveh. “The idea is that we’re more accessible to people in Thamesmead.”
Kaveh says some passers-by are surprised to learn the practice had been in the town for 14 years.
“I’m confident having a significant frontage in Cygnet Square and being more visible will have benefits,” he added.
The commercial spaces in Cygnet Square were completed in 2022 as part of Peabody's seven-phase masterplan for South Thamesmead.
“It’s wonderful to welcome Abbey Wood Dental Practice to Cygnet Square,” said Peabody’s Senior Regeneration Manager, Dan Sherlock. “We wish Kaveh and his team all the best as they deliver their services to the local community.”
