We’re excited to be back with the Thamesmead Festival this summer in Southmere Park on Saturday 20 August 2022, from 12pm – 7pm.

Following an incredibly successful festival last year, which saw over 6,500 people celebrate Thamesmead and its vibrant local talents, we’re determined to make this year’s festival even better.

We are a voluntary group of 14 local residents who have already started planning and discussing ideas for the festival programme, which will include music, spoken word, dance, creative projects, a dog show, community and craft stalls, as well as a delicious and varied food offer.

We have appointed Serious as the delivery partner for the Thamesmead Festival, and we are supported by Peabody who are funding the festival. Serious have a wealth of experience in organising large scale events and also produced last year’s Thamesmead Festival.

1. Performance – Music, Spoken Word, Dance, Magic and Comedy

This year’s festival will see the return of our three main stages – the Park Stage, up on the hill; the Southmere Stage on Southmere Square and the more informal Unplugged Stage among the trees in Southmere Park.

We are looking forward to filling these stages with a variety of art forms, from music to spoken word, dance, magic and comedy. And if we’re missing something that you can offer, let us know – we’d love to hear about it!

If you would like to perform on one of our stages, please let us know more about your work via our Open Call.

2. Charity and Community Stalls

We are looking for charities and community groups active in Thamesmead and surrounding areas that would like to have a presence at the Thamesmead Festival 2022. We would love local groups and charities to operate community stalls at the event providing information about their work in the community and running small scale, free workshops/ activities for children and/or adults.

If a stall isn’t right for your group, but you want to offer something else at our festival, please also use the form below. We would love to hear from you. We are especially keen to hear from groups that would like to put on games for all ages in our Playzone area – for example football, tug-o-war, and similar.

If you would like to have a community stall, please fill in our Open Call.

3. Food and Craft Stalls

Our food and craft stall are managed by local market provider CC Events, who have been holding various successful markets in Thamesmead over the past four years, including our markets that form part of the Thamesmead Festival.

For our 2022 festival we would like to grow and diversify the offer on site, offering a variety of foods from all over the world, as well as a good selection of different craft stalls.

Last year has shown that the festival has become a very popular annual celebration, which offers a great opportunity to traders to showcase their products and benefit from a very busy day.

If you would like to have a food or craft stall, please fill in the Open Call

Please email CC Events UK [email protected] for any questions around this specific Open Call.

4. Visual Arts

We really want this year's Festival to be representative of all art forms and are aware of the large community of visual artists in Thamesmead. There are two ways to get your work seen as part of the festival.

  • Do you have an existing artwork that is robust enough to be shown outside in a festival context? We would help with transport to and from site.
  • We would love to showcase some artworks on flags/banners across the site. We would pay for printing costs and you would get to keep your flag/banner after the festival. Artworks can include drawings, paintings, photography and Computer Generated Imagery.

All artwork must be suitable for an audience of all ages.

We're also welcoming creative workshop ideas, or if you would like to run a workshop or have an idea for one, do let us know.

If you would like to have your artwork exhibited or run a creative activity please fill in our Open Call
